The 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available beginning Tuesday, October 1, 2022, through June 30, 2024. Students can complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The FAFSA will ask for income data from the 2021 tax year. When completing the FAFSA online, students and parents who have filed their 2019 federal tax return may be able to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to easily, accurately, and securely transfer their tax information directly from the IRS into their FAFSA form.
** IMPORTANT:
An FSA ID is required to sign the online FAFSA. Both student and parent must have their own separate FSA ID. For more information about the FSA ID and how to apply, go to StudentAid.gov/fsaid
To receive maximum consideration for financial aid, the MSU Financial Aid office must receive a valid 2023-2024 FAFSA and any required supporting documentation on or before April 1, 2023. We also guarantee that if we receive the FAFSA and all supporting documentation by this date, your student’s financial aid will be processed before classes begin in August 2021.
Using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing the FAFSA will save you time and ensure that your data is accurate, decreasing the chances of being asked to provide additional IRS documents to the financial aid office.
