Constitution Day

Please join us as Mississippi State University celebrates Constitution Day - the date commemorating the signing of our U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. Come learn interesting facts about the history and meaning of our U.S. Constitution. There will be two events available for everyone to attend in honor of this occasion.

Event One:
We will have a display table with free handouts, some general information, as well as some interactive items related to the U.S. Constitution

When:  September 16-19, 2022 – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: MSU Garner Hall Financial Aid Department

Event Two:
An open event at the Fowlkes Auditorium in the Student Union with Dr. Brian Shoup speaking on
“What is a Republic?.”

When: September 19, 2022 – 11:00 a.m.
Where: Fowlkes Auditorium – Colvard Student Union
Speaker: Dr. Brian Shoup, PSPA Professor and Department Head
Dr. Brian Shoup is Professor of Political Science and Public Administration where he teaches comparative politics and public policy. His primary research interests are identity politics and conflict and state and nation-building.
Professor Shoup is the author of Conflict and Cooperation in Multi-Ethnic States: Institutional Incentives, Myths, and Counterbalancing and his research has appeared in Commonwealth and Comparative Politics, Democratization, Journal of Democracy, The Journal of Labor Research, Perspectives on Politics, and PS: Political Science.
