The College Financing Plan is for informational purposes only. Listed below are further descriptions of some items you might see in the plan along with references to items that might not be included.

  • Student Aid Index: This number is calculated from the information reported on the FAFSA and used to determine your eligibility for federal financial aid. If you did NOT file a FAFSA, this number defaults to blanks or all nines showing that you are not eligible for federal financial aid
  • Cost of Attendance: This amount is only an estimate. The direct charges include tuition/fees and housing/meals. The indirect charges include books/supplies, transportation, and other educational costs that will not be billed to your student account
  • Military and/or National Service Benefits: MSU offers veterans and their families assistance through the Center for America's Veterans. However, no military benefits will show up on the College Financing Plan
  • External Scholarships: Any scholarships that are external to MSU will not show up in the College Financing Plan
