According to the Department of Education, the IRS Data Retrieval Tool will be unavailable for several weeks. We regret the inconvenience, and will keep you updated as we get more information from the Department of Education.
If you are filling out the FAFSA, you can manually input your tax information. NOTE: The 2017–18 FAFSA requires 2015 tax info (not 2016).
Input your tax info using a copy of your 2015 income tax return. If a copy is not available, you can get one from the tax software you used or request one from your tax preparer. You can also request a tax transcript from the IRS: www.irs.gov/transcript
On October 1, 2017 students and parents should be able to complete their FAFSAs for the 2018-19 academic year with the help of the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT).
