Students Entering Spring Semester
This web page is intended to provide guidance for students entering MSU for the first time this coming Spring semester or for students returning to MSU for the Spring semester after a period of non-enrollment.
Students entering college for the first time this Spring semester:
- Please follow the steps listed in the “Step by Step Process” of this same web site.
- In addition, file an on-line MSU Financial Aid Change Request Form. (Once you have been admitted to MSU, you will be issued a MSU Net ID and Password and can access this on-line form via “On-Campus”, MSU’s secure web portal.)
Returning MSU students: Students who either co-oped Fall or did not attend MSU or any other school during the Fall semester but are returning to MSU this Spring should follow the same guidance provided above for first time entering students.
Students transferring to MSU for the coming Spring semester from another college: (Student aid does not “transfer” from one school to the next. Eligibility for awards must be established with each school through the required application process.)
- Please follow the steps listed in the “Step by Step Process” of this same web site.
- If a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current school year has already been filed for attendance at the previous school for the Fall semester, do not file another FAFSA, but simply add MSU’s Federal School Code Number (002423) to your FAFSA. This can be accomplished on-line at the federal FAFSA Correction Website www.fafsa.ed.gov or by adding it to your paper Student Aid Report (the report you received if you filed your original current school year FAFSA in paper form).
- In addition, file an on-line MSU Financial Aid Change Request Form. Once you have been admitted to MSU, you will be issued a MSU Net ID and Password and can access this on-line form via “On-Campus”, MSU’s secure web portal.
- If financial aid has already been awarded for you for the coming Spring semester at your previous school, please contact that school (and your lender if a federal Stafford or Parent PLUS Loan has been awarded) and ask them to cancel your upcoming Spring semester financial aid because you will need to receive financial aid at MSU for the Spring semester. The reason this is necessary is because, if a school or lender already has a federal Student/Parent Loan or Federal Pell Grant awarded for you for the upcoming Spring semester, MSU will not be able to get these funds for you until these awards scheduled to be received by the previous school for the Spring have been canceled).
Mississippi Resident Students: Students who are residents of the state of Mississippi who received state aid awards such as MTAG, MESG, William Winter Teacher Scholar Program, etc. should contact the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid to request that state aid awards be sent to MSU for the Spring semester rather than the previous school.
