FAFSA Verification Information
Note: Approximately 30% of all applications each year will be selected by the federal processor for a process of review called verification. If your application is selected you will be notified and you must submit the following documents to the Department of Student Financial Aid at MSU:
- Signed copy of your (and your spouses', if married) Federal Income Tax Return used to file the current year FAFSA.
- Signed copy of your parents' Federal Income Tax Return used to file the current year FAFSA (if you were required to apply as a dependent student)
- Completed Federal Verification Worksheet - click here to download and print a blank verification worksheet
In addition, the processor will perform database matches by comparing your application data with the Social Security Administration, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Selective Service, National Student Loan Data System, and others. Depending on the outcome of these database matches, you may be required to submit additional documentation to MSU.
